Last week, the 7th-grade students and staff ventured to Fugate Woods for a hands-on learning day guided by experts from Heartland Community College, Illinois Audubon Society, and Illinois Extension Grand Prairie Master Naturalists. The central theme of the field trip was "Connections", allowing students to explore their connections with nature, history, and science through interactive rotations and activities.



Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Keianna Ellis-Nelson!
Keianna, an 8th grader, was nominated by Ms. Hornickel, who wrote, "Keianna is a wonderful student to have in Math. She is very proactive in her learning and advocates for herself. I appreciate her humor and willingness to persevere when we approach more difficult concepts. Keianna has natural talent when it comes to working with numbers and does her best day in and day out. Thank you Keianna!" Keianna is involved in Basketball, Volleyball, Student Librarian, and Peer Partners.

Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Addison Adams!
Addison, a 7th grader, was nominated by Coach Scheulin, who wrote, "I chose this student as Athlete of the Week because she always shows up to practice and meets with a positive attitude and great energy. She stays focused, works hard, and is always willing to help out her teammates. She's also one of the first to ask if the coaches need anything during meets, which shows how much she cares about the team. She gives 150% effort in everything she does, whether it's practice or competition, and sets a great example for others. Her dedication, positivity, and willingness to go above and beyond make her a standout athlete!" Addison is also involved in Band and Cheerleading.

Congratulations to the PCJH FFA Dairy Judging team and Dairy Handler Kasen Casson in placing first in the Junior DIvision FFA State Dairy Judging contest and Dairy Handlers Contest. Dairy team members included Tracen Burke, Carter Brown, Braylen Brucker, Cade Freed, and Cole Miller. These students will go across stage at the Illinois FFA Convention this summer to receive their awards.

Ryder’s dedication to his own learning and his willingness to help those around him make him a valuable asset." Ryder is involved in baseball and basketball.

The 5th and 6th graders always look up to him! They even ask to be in his group for workouts and warmups. One 5th grader even stated "I want to be like Carder!" He comes to practice everyday with a positive attitude and keeps his classmates accountable." Carder is also involved in band, baseball, and basketball.
