Mrs. McBride's class hosted all the 5th grade classes in their Math Cafe. Students took on roles as severs and patrons. Food and drink orders were taken followed by students checking each other's math to ensure tickets were calculated correctly and proper change was given.
Please consider purchasing some new Prairie Central gear! PCE started a new leadership group this year called Flight Crew. It is comprised of 24 third and fourth grade students. We are needing to grow our fund so we can give back to the school and community. The shop closes December 13th!

Fourth grade students in Mrs. Schrader's WINN (What I Need Now) class at Prairie Central Elementary completed their first of three Envision projects. This project, titled Pet Parade, engages students in a project that is as much fun as it is educational. Each student is challenged to discover what he or she would enjoy most in a pet and find the pet that most closely fits his or her life.
Students first researched to create descriptions of possible pets. They then made a pet picture chart that displayed and described different pet choices, used the computer to make two “recipes” for desirable pets, created an adjective wheel to evaluate different characteristics of pets, and illustrated pets’ life cycles. Using this information, students made a final pet choice. From there, they engaged in many more activities, including writing a song about their pet and a cinquain poem, and creating a cost table that itemized all of the costs associated with owning their pet.
All of their work was compiled into a binder and displayed on a tri-fold board. The students then showed off all of this hard work last night, at our Pet Parade EXPO night. It was a wonderful night!
The Karnes Memorial Fund is now accepting scholarship applications! See attached for details.
