Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Keianna Ellis!
Keianna, an 8th grader, was nominated by Coach Gradberg, who wrote, "Keianna has a very positive outlook during practice and games. She listens and applies newly taught skills. She always works hard and never hesitates to ask questions. She is very supportive of her teammates and is quick to pick them up with positive words or with a smile. In school, Keianna volunteers in the library and partakes in Peer Partners. She looks forward to being on the volleyball team. Keianna aspires to go to college to be an optometrist."

Nataleigh, a 7th grader, was nominated by Ms. Weighley, who wrote, " Nataleigh is a very conscientious student and takes ownership of her learning by coming to see me when she doesn't understand a math concept. Nataleigh participates in classroom discussions and comes to class prepared. Nataleigh's polite and courteous demeanor contribute to why she is a great role model for her peers. When working with a partner or in a group, Nataleigh always does her best and participates with an enthusiastic attitude." Nataleigh is involved in Student Council, Art Guild, Cares Clowns, and Fashion Club. Nataleigh also participates in gymnastics and likes to hang out with her friends and draw. When she grows up, Nataleigh would like to be a movie animator.

Is Christopher Columbus worth celebrating? That was the question Mrs. Lawrence's 6th grade classes have been researching. By analyzing primary/secondary sources, students took action to complete a debate. Who is on trial? Columbus, Columbus' men, Tainos, The System, and the King and Queen of Spain.
Congratulations to Mrs. Edwards, Mrs. Small and Mrs. Decker. They received the Livingston County Retired Teachers Association scholarship award to fund new and innovative projects in their classrooms. Way to go!
Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Albrin Saltzman!
Albrin, a 7th grader, was nominated by Coach Razo, who wrote, "Albrin is a member of the 2024 seventh grade girls basketball team. Albrin has been a hard worker in practice. She has shown consistency this season making the effort to learn the game of basketball and to then apply what she has learned. During our first few games, Albrin has been our leading rebounder. Albrin brings enthusiasm to our games and practices and has become a welcomed addition to our program."

Caden, an 8th grader, was nominated by Mrs. McArdle, who wrote, "I have Caden for both homeroom and 8th grade science. Caden is polite and always willing to lend a helping hand. He works hard and strives to do his best in everything in which he is involved; including FFA and helping out on his family farm. Caden always comes to class prepared not only with materials but also with curiosity and excitement. Caden is a leader during class discussions and isn't afraid to share his thoughts and ideas during our SEL lessons in homeroom or during Science class. Caden is also hilarious! He cracks some of the best jokes and hits me and his classmates with groan-inducing puns. He is truly just an enjoyable young man. I cannot wait to see all that Caden accomplishes in high school and beyond!"

PCE has had a fun fire prevention week! Second graders got to tour fire trucks, third graders got to walk to the fire station, and fourth graders had an assembly. Our students have learned so much!
The Junior High has been enjoying the nice weather this week with various outdoor activities:
The 7th grade science classes were visited by Mr. Saffer, who took them into the prairie just outside of the school.
The physical education classes ran the mile this week!
Our new picnic tables have been a hit with both students and staff!
The Junior High Retake Picture Day is 10/15/2024! If you're satisfied with your child's picture, no further action is required.
If you purchased and were unhappy with your Picture Package, please send your Picture Package to school with your student on Retake Day. Your Retake Picture Package will be produced and shipped to the school four weeks after Retake Day. Please note, if your child is photographed on the original and Retake Picture Days, the Retake picture will replace the original picture in certain products, like the yearbook.

PC boys golf finished 10th as a team at the IHSA Sectional, ending their season as a team. However, Easton Friedman shot a 76 and qualified for the IHSA State Finals as an individual! Good season Hawks and good luck at State Easton!!!

Kinlee, an 8th grader, was nominated by Mr. Cheek who wrote, "Kinlee has been a fantastic leader for the choir this year. She is not afraid to ask questions to help her section and the choir gain better understanding of notes and rhythms that might be missed. Kinlee comes into choir everyday with a smile and a love for life that gives a great energy to the ensemble." Kinlee is also involved in Softball, Student Council, and Band.
