
Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Karmyn Folk!
Karmyn, an 8th grader, was nominated by Mrs. Markley, who wrote, "I've really enjoyed having Karmyn in class over the past couple of years. I've seen so much growth in her, not only academically, but as a person as well. She is an excellent math student and brings a positive and exciting vibe to the classroom, and she's a wonderfully supportive peer to her classmates. Karmyn is sweet and trustworthy, and she is always willing to help out in class however she can. I'm proud of her for ambitiously starting a Fashion Club at the Jr. High this year; she is a leader at heart. I'm excited to see where life takes her!" Karmyn is also involved in Choir.

PC girls basketball will begin IHSA Regional play on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2pm vs Herscher at Prairie Central High School. IHSA admission for this game will be $6/person, No Passes Allowed. Good luck Hawks!

Congratulations to Elliana Jonsson for earning a spot in the 2025 Illinois All-State Honor Band! Elliana, a trombonist, is Prairie Central’s first All-State participant since 2017 and the first band member to achieve this honor since 2012. Way to go Elliana, we are proud of you!

PC Preschool Screenings are being postponed to March 12th and 13th. Phone calls will be made. If you were scheduled to go February 12th, your day will be March 12th. The same for February 13th, your day will be March 13th.

Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Marisa Schramm!
Marisa, an 8th grader, was nominated by Coach Brown, who wrote, "Marisa is a great leader in volleyball. She continues to show growth in her skills while learning a new position this year. She is able to roll with all the punches life throws at her with maturity beyond her years. She is a player you can always count on." Marisa is involved in Band, softball, basketball, FFA, track, and elite volleyball. She wants to be in the Air Force when she is older. Her favorite memory of volleyball is our Pink Out game when we won for her mom!"

Mia, an 8th grader, was nominated by Ms. Seeman, who wrote, "Mia always comes to class prepared, participates actively, and encourages classmates with kindness and respect. One of the things that stands out about Mia is her ability to lead by example. Whether it’s helping a peer understand a concept, contributing thoughtful insights during discussions, or showing her work ethic in challenging tasks, Mia demonstrates qualities of a true role model. A fun fact about Mia is that she is a wonderful, talented artist!" Mia is also involved in FFA, Choir, and Fashion Club.

PC girls basketball defeats Beecher 60-35 in their final home game of the season! The Hawks played solid team defense and were led in scoring by Abi Nimbler with 19 points, 6 rebounds and Jayla Hammond with 12 points 11 rebounds.

All PCHS scheduled practices will end by 4:30pm today, Wednesday, Feb. 5, and there will be no morning practices tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 6. The JV girls tournament game has also been canceled for tonight.

PCHS Boys and Girls Track will have a parent meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 6:30pm in the PCHS library. If your child is interested in participating in track and you are unable to attend the meeting, contact Coach Welch, jwelch@prairiecentral.org, for more information.

Congratulations to the PCJH Athlete of the Week, Ally Tipton!
Ally, a 7th grader, was nominated by Coach Ropp, who wrote, "Ally has been a joy to have on the volleyball team this year. She works hard during practices to better her skills and asks great questions when she doesn't understand something we are working on. Ally is also a positive presence on the team. She offers encouragement and kind words to her teammates and her quiet sense of humor brings a smile to all of our faces." Ally is also involved in Girls Basketball, Cares Clowns, and Youth Group at the Fairbury Baptist Church. Ally enjoys any sport, art, camping with her family and riding dirt bikes.


Congratulations to the PCJH Student of the Week, Ann-Elise Causer!
Ann-Elise, a 7th grader, was nominated by Ms. Wilson, who wrote, "Ann-Elise is such a positive force at Prairie Central Junior High. She works hard in everything that she does, both in and out of the classroom. Ann-Elise brings joy to everyone at school with her wonderful sense of humor and genuine empathy for peers and staff. If she is in the room, there is guaranteed to be laughter and love. In addition to being a pleasure to work with, Ann-Elise consistently goes out of her way to be helpful to others. If she sees a peer who is visibly upset, her first instinct is to try to make them feel better. Being a part of Ann-Elise's journey is an honor, and I am looking forward to seeing how far she will go." Ann-Elise is involved in Peer Partners, Miracle League Baseball, and Central Illinois Courage Hockey. She also regularly attends Eastview Christian Church and participates in the junior high student ministry.
